Aboriginal Homeless Outreach Program

A disproportionate number of individuals who are homeless are Aboriginal, and outreach workers have indicated it is necessary to address this in a way that recognizes their unique cultural and social needs. The Aboriginal Homeless Outreach Program aims to reduce the number of Aboriginals who are homeless by providing direct access to immediate housing with linkages to the necessary support services to address the individual’s housing, health, and cultural needs.

The program provides outreach services for chronically homeless, urban and rural Aboriginals who are living off-reserve. In particular, the program focuses on individuals who are street entrenched or who have been homeless for longer periods of time.
