When applying for the Shelter Aid For Elderly Renters program, the following sections of the application form will require supporting documents:

  • and Proof of CURRENT gross monthly income, from all sources (copies of cheques, cheque stubs, bank statement showing direct deposit, T-slips or other income statement).
  • If you (or your spouse) have income from self employment or business income, attach Statement of Income and Expenses from Income Tax return.
Proof of Age

  • Birth or Baptismal Certificate, Driver’s License, or Passport.
Proof of Rent

Bank Information

Payment by direct deposit is simple, quick, and convenient. Your payment is made directly into your account with no need to deposit a cheque or make a trip to the bank. This reduces turn around time for your payment and makes is easier to audit. Your payment will be deposited into your account by the last day of each month.

To set up your cash assistance by direct deposit:

  1. Complete the form and attach either:
    • A blank personalized cheque marked VOID: the cheque must be personalized by the bank (we will not accept cheques with hand-written information in the top-left corner)
    • A letter from your bank showing your bank account information: must be stamped by your bank.
