Step 4 - Apply to non-profit and co-operative housing providers

You should apply for additional housing that is not part of The Housing Registry. Not all non-profit societies and co-operatives use The Registry as their applicant database, so to increase your chances of securing subsidized housing, we recommend that you apply to those non-profit societies and co-operatives not members as well.

You will find these non-Registry members, plus information on how to apply to those developments, in the  Housing Listings.

A) Go to the Housing Listings

B) Choose the geographic area that best meets your needs

C) Select the appropriate type of development (singles, seniors and families)

Section #2 lists all of the developments not listed with The Housing Registry and how to apply to them.

Sometimes you may find that non-profit and co-operative housing providers are not accepting new applications because many people are already on their applicant lists. These applicant lists re-open as vacancies become available, so check back with the housing provider regularly.

To find out which co-operatives are accepting applications, check out the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC’s website or contact them at 604-879-5112.

Once you have applied to non-profit and co-operative housing providers, your next step it to keep your application up-to-date.
