Operational Review

The intent of the operational review process is to work in partnership with housing providers to identify areas of strength and opportunities to achieve excellence and accountability in the delivery of social housing and support programs.

Operational Reviews focus on the following areas:

  • Providing safe spaces for clients, residents and staff
  • Providing effective client, resident management
  • Achieving sustainable financial management
  • Administering well maintained physical assets
The Operational Review Process

The following process is followed for all operational reviews:
  • NPPM calls the provider two months prior to the review to arrange a date for the review.
    • Sends a letter confirming dates and requesting copies of the rent documentation and identifies units that will require notice of entry.
    • If identified units are not appropriate the provider advises NPPM and different units are identified.
  • Provider send rent documentation to BC Housing
    • BC Housing reviews the information
  • Providers and NPPMs tour the previously identified buildings and units
  • Providers and NPPMs meet to discuss operational review topics
  • NPPMs send a Follow Up Report to providers
    • usually within 30 days of the review
  • Provider addresses action items discussed at the time of the operational review
    • 3 months to one year; dependent upon the agreed upon work plan
  • Provider has completed the work plan and advised NPPM
    • NPPM has documented completion
  • Operational review closed
