BC Housing and BCNPHA win Power Smart award
Working together in partnership BC Housing and the BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA) were joint recipients of the Conservation Partner of the Year award at BC Hydro’s 2009 Power Smart Excellence Awards presentation.
The award recognizes the energy-efficiency retrofits BC Housing has made and continues to make in partnership with BCNPHA members as well as the building standards adopted for all new building developments making the public and non-profit housing stock significantly more energy efficient, contributing to environmental sustainability and resulting in large cost savings.
BC Housing is working with BCNPHA to develop an energy management strategy for the non-profit housing sector. Energy retrofits have been completed on over 50 buildings, and energy studies for 80 housing developments are underway or complete.
BC Housing is also committed to building all new developments to LEED Gold standards and over 40 new sites managed by BCNPHA members are under design or construction.
