Do I have to be off income assistance for any period of time before I can apply to the Rental Assistance Program? No, there is no time limit for being off of income assistance.
In fact, an applicant can still be receiving income assistance for
up to one month of receiving rental assistance, as long as we
receive confirmation of the last day that you will receive an
income assistance payment. This month overlap allows easier
transition, as the Rental Assistance Program reimburses part of the
difference between 30 percent of your total income and your rent
amount.
For example: If an applicant applies for the Rental Assistance
Program in June and is able to provide confirmation that their
final income assistance payment was provided at the end of May for
the month of June, if eligible the Rental Assistance application
can be approved for June.
