Breaking the cycle of Homelessness

Stories of Hope

In the struggle to break the cycle of homelessness in British Columbia, there are many stories that touch the heart.

Whether it be a person’s journey from the streets to permanent housing, the opening of a building or emergency shelter that provides vital support services, or an outreach worker who changes someone’s life for the better, these are their inspiring stories.

A unique photo storytelling exhibition Real People, Real Lives…Courage and Hope in the Downtown Eastside is a candid portrait of 12 people who live in one of Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhoods – is a collaboration between Atira Women’s Resource Society and its property management company, award-winning photographer Michael Bednar, and BC Housing.
