Whether it be a person’s journey from the streets to permanent housing, the opening of a building that provides vital support services, or an outreach worker who changes someone’s life for the better, these are their inspiring stories.

Real People, Real Lives

This digital storytelling project chronicles the lives of 12 people living on the Downtwon Eastside over the course of a year. Photographer Michael Bednar has created an evocative video project that showcases his work and the people of his community.

BC Housing has a new sustainability strategy called livegreen: A Housing Sustainability Action Plan . livegreen outlines BC Housing’s vision of being a leader in North America in developing and managing environmentally sustainable social housing. The videos were created in 2008 to show how BC Housing is implementing the livegreen strategy.

150 Years of Housing in B.C.

Seniors' Rental Housing

The Seniors Rental Housing initiative will increase the supply of new affordable rental housing for low-income seniors and persons with disabilities, primarily in small communities; provide affordable rental housing through a delivery model that requires no ongoing operating funding, subsidies or support services; stimulate local economies through the development of new rental housing and the use of local materials. Olympic Legacy Affordable Housing

This agreement between the Province and VANOC called for the design and construction of 320 temporary modular housing for use in Whistler during the 2010 Winter Games. The Province is paying for the design, relocation, site work, and modifications of these temporary modular units into legacy housing in six communities. Housing Matters BC

On October 4, 2006, the Minister Responsible for Housing Rich Coleman announced Housing Matters BC, a housing strategy providing programs and resources helping British Columbians, from the homeless to low-income working families, meet their housing needs.
