In March 2008, the Province of British Columbia and the City of Kelowna approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to build up to 128 new supportive housing units on three city-owned sites for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Read the news release.

To date, all three Kelowna city-owned sites are funded and two of these sites are under construction.

Locations and operators

Willowbridge at 330 Boyce Crescent will provide 40 units of transitional housing with support services This site will be operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association – Kelowna Branch .

Tutt Street Place at 2938 Tutt St., will provide 39 larger family units for women and children. This site will be operated by New Opportunities for Women (NOW) Canada . In exchange for this site, NOW Canada will sell the City of Kelowna an undeveloped parcel of land in Rutland that the City proposes to convert into a public park.

The development at 195 Rutland Road North will provide up to 49 units of longer-term, transitional housing. This site will be operated by John Howard Society of the Central and South Okanagan .
