Student Tenant Employment Program

The Student Tenant Employment Program (STEP) is an innovative employment program for youth between the ages of 15 to 18 who are tenants in public housing developments in the Lower Mainland. BC Housing partners with a community service provider to give support to youth by offering the tools needed to develop their skills and find the path to a financially stable future through a leadership, life skills and employment program.

Thirty-six youths are recruited in May and June through on-site meetings and information posters. During the months of July and August, successful applicants receive two weeks of job readiness training, followed by a six-week job placement with an employer in the community.
