Webinar Overview

This session is offered as an online webinar which will be recorded at Brix Recording Studio (102-211 Columbia St., Vancouver)

Summer temperatures and extreme heat events are on the rise, creating major challenges for keeping our buildings cool and safe enough for the wellbeing of tenants. The concurrent wildfire season in BC only makes the situation worse, particularly for already vulnerable populations, such as elderly and other immunocompromised tenants. This webinar highlights retrofit strategies to address overheating and poor air quality due to wildfire smoke in non-profit housing. Risk determination of extreme heat will be covered and well as active cooling strategies and an overview of some deep retrofit projects.

  • Alex ChouP.Eng, LEED AP BD+C, AME Consulting Group
  • Marianne Touchie, PhD, University of Toronto
  • Magdalena Szpala, BC Housing

Session will be moderated by Jackie KanyukBCNPHA
