Business Suppliers

UPDATED: March 25, 2020

BC Housing is committed to mitigate the risk of spreading the Covid-19 virus to its suppliers, tenants, employees and public in general.

It is of vital importance to BC Housing to maintain a safe environment for all of us, and adhere to direction from the Province of BC in order to mitigate the spread.

While BC Housing has both new construction projects in progress and housing assets which require maintenance and repair, we are reviewing all projects with the intent to take actions to minimize contact between suppliers and tenants. Due to the spread of the Covid-19 virus and the direction from BC’s Provincial Health Officer, we expect to see a decrease in the typical utilization of supplier resources.

In the event of any material change, BC Housing will issue an updated supplier notification. Project specific questions should be addressed to the BC Housing representative listed in your supply contract or purchase order. Any non-project related questions may be directed to:

BC Housing is following the guidance provided by BC Health Authorities to mitigate the spread of the Covid-19 virus and strongly recommend that its suppliers follow the same protocols, some of the key activities include:

Licensed Residential Builders - Important Updates

UPDATED: March 25, 2020

Continuing Professional Development

We are aware that most, if not all, face to face training sessions have been cancelled as a result of physical distancing requirements. Completing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is one of the requirements to renew your licence in accordance with schedule 7 of the regulation.

While online training is still available, we recognize that not everyone with upcoming licence renewals will be able to meet their CPD requirements on time this licence term. The requirements for CPD remain in place. However, if you are having difficulty obtaining all of your CPD points this licence term due to disruptions in planned training, we will consider deferring your CPD points and adding them to your next licence term.

A licensing officer will reach out to you when you submit your renewal if you have not met the CPD requirements. You can advise them of your circumstances at that time. We will review each licence renewal on a case-by-case basis.

For more information about the CPD go to: Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Financial Hardship

If you are facing financial hardship due to loss of work, but wish to renew and keep your licence current, you may be able to defer your renewal payment. This safeguards inactive licensees who are unable to work and have no upcoming contracts.

If you wish to defer your renewal fee, please submit your renewal application and choose the “pay later” option. When you have completed this step, you can email, with your licence number in the subject line. This will let us know that your renewal has been submitted and you need to defer your payment. For licensees who choose this option, please note that your licence will be restricted from enrolling new projects until the renewal fee has been paid.

We appreciate that these are challenging times, and everyone is doing their best to meet requirements, while taking precautions to avoid the transmission of COVID-19. If you have any other concerns or questions about renewing your licence, please forward them to

UPDATED: April 13, 2020

Funding for rental housing support for renters and clients of BC Housing Rental Assistance Programs, SAFER and RAP, is now available.

BC Housing has made the following temporary changes to the Rental Assistance Program (RAP) and SAFER. These changes support our new and existing clients who experience a loss of employment income due to the COVID-19 crisis.

  • Clients with reduced employment income on or after March 1, 2020 may request a short-term adjustment to their monthly benefit. The adjusted benefit amount is effective the month the decrease occurs. BC Housing must be notified within 4 months for clients to receive this benefit.
  • New RAP applicants with reduced income may have their eligibility and benefit calculation temporarily based on new, reduced income. In addition, the Emergency Care Benefit from the federal government will be considered a qualifying, employment replacement income.
  • The 12 month BC Residency requirement will also be waived for any applicants that meet all other eligibility criteria.

To request an adjustment please contact our office toll free: 1-800-257-7756 or 604-433-2218.
