BC Housing, through the Provincial Rental Housing Corporation, has entered into a contract for the purchase and sale of 49 units of supportive housing at 130 McCurdy Road.
About the Project
BC Housing, through the Provincial Rental Housing Corporation, has entered into a contract for the purchase and sale of 49 units of supportive housing at the future development of 130 McCurdy Road. This housing will be available to people currently living in the community who are experiencing homelessness, targeting people further along their recovery journey. The supportive housing units will be an important addition for the community and will be operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna Branch (CMHA.)
These new homes will respond to recommendations made through the Journey Home Strategy, which includes focussing on priority populations such as youth 19 – 24, and providing housing with a person-centered approach that meets people where they are at to help them thrive. These are self-contained studio homes with supports provided on-site 24 hours, to ensure residents can achieve and maintain housing stability. Applicants will go through a thorough assessment process to ensure an appropriate mix of residents with the right supports. All residents will sign a program agreement (similar to a tenancy agreement) and will pay rent.
