BC Housing is not accepting new Home Adaptations for Independence (HAFI) applications. This is to support public health and safety during the COVID-19 crisis. The risk of spreading the virus will be reduced by limiting potential interactions from renovation project estimates and meetings.
The Home Adaptations for Independence (HAFI) Program provides financial assistance in the form of a grant to eligible low-income households to complete home adaptations for independent living.
As a homeowner, you may be eligible for Home Adaptations for Independence (HAFI) assistance if you or someone in your household has diminished physical abilities and you meet all the application requirements.
Tenants and landlords may also apply to the Home Adaptations for Independence program.
Approved assistance will be either a grant or a forgivable loan. Once your application is approved, you will have 90 days to complete the work from the date of written approval.
What properties are eligible or ineligible? Find out if your property is permitted for the Home Adaptations Independence program (HAFI).
The adaptations should directly address the disability or diminished ability of the homeowner, tenant or household member. Find out what modifications are eligible or ineligible under the HAFI program.
