GC Pro General Contractor Ltd. and Orlando Alexander Escorcia Maradiaga

On December 16, 2025, pursuant to s. 28.3(1)(a) of the Homeowner Protection Act (the “Act”) and s. 20.1(2)(b) and (f) of the Homeowner Protection Act Regulation (the “Regulation”), GC Pro General Contractor Ltd. (“GC Pro”) and Orlando Alexander Escorcia Maradiaga (“Escorcia”) were issued a monetary penalty, jointly and severally, in the single amount of $17,000. This Monetary Penalty was issued for the following reasons:

• Between October 8, 2024, and July 7, 2025, contrary to s. 14(1) and s. 22(1) of the Act, GC Pro and Escorcia conducted the business of a residential builder by first entering into a contract with the property owner  to construct a new home in Barriere, BC (the “New Home”) and subsequently commencing construction on the New Home without the New Home being registered for coverage by home warranty insurance provided by a warranty provider; and
• The contraventions of the Act by GC Pro and Escorcia make them subject to a monetary penalty pursuant to s. 28.3(1)(a) of the Act and s. 20.1(2)(b) and (f) of the Regulation.
