On June 11, 2026, pursuant to s. 28.3(1)(b) of the Homeowner Protection Act (the “Act”), GC Pro General Contractor Ltd. (“GC Pro”) and Orlando Alexander Escorcia Maradiaga (“Escorcia”) were issued a monetary penalty, jointly and severely, in a daily amount of $200, to a maximum of $6,000, for each day that passes until the demands contained in Compliance Order 25-0026 (“CO”) have been satisfied. This Monetary Penalty was issued for the following reasons:

  • GC Pro and Escorcia, contrary to section 14(5) of the Act, contravened the Act by publishing information that implied, suggested, or held out that GC Pro was a Licensed Residential Builder (“LRB”) during the period of or about August 19, 2025 to December 16, 2025, without either GC Pro or Escorcia being a BC Housing (“BCH”) LRB;
  • The contravention of the Act by GC Pro and Escorcia was the subject of the CO issued by BCH on December 16, 2025. The date for complying with the CO was January 16, 2026;
  • The CO directed GC Pro and Escorcia to immediately cease all signage, marketing, and other publications that imply, suggest, or hold out in any manner that GC Pro or Escorcia is an LRB; or immediately become a BCH LRB pursuant to section 14 of the Act; and
  • GC Pro and Escorcia failed to comply with any of the orders contained in the CO by the requested compliance date.
