Gurdeep Otal (“G. Otal”) and Tejinder Otal (“T. Otal”)(together, “the Otals”), contrary to sections 14(1) and 22(1) of the Homeowner Protection Act (the “Act”), built, or caused to be built, a detached eight-unit, non-conforming multi-unit building in Surrey, BC (the “New Homes”), sometime prior to March 17, 2025, without being a BC Housing (“BCH”) Licensed Residential Builder, and without any of the New Homes being registered for coverage by home warranty insurance provided by a warranty provider. On February 20, 2026, BCH issued Compliance Order 26-0005 to the Otals directing that the Otals:

  • immediately provide BCH Compliance Department with evidence that the New Homes have been removed from the property.

The Otals were ordered to comply with Compliance Order 26-0005 by April 3, 2026.
