On March 28, 2025, pursuant to s. 28.3(1)(a) of the Homeowner Protection Act (the “Act”) and s. 20.1(2)(b) of the Homeowner Protection Act Regulation (the “Regulation”), Regal Grand Construction Ltd. (“RGC), Andrew Gee (“A. Gee”), and Sam Gee (“S. Gee”) were issued a monetary penalty, jointly and severally, in the single amount of $8,400. This Monetary Penalty was issued for the following reasons:
- On, or about, October 12, 2020, contrary to s. 14(1) of the Act, RGC, A. Gee, and S. Gee conducted the business of a residential builder by entering into a contract with the owners of a property in Vancouver, BC, to construct a new home, and
- subsequently built the new home between June 2022 and October 2024 without being a BC Housing Licensed Residential Builder; andThe contravention of the Act by RGC, A. Gee, and S. Gee makes them subject to a monetary penalty pursuant to s. 28.3(1)(a) of the Act and s. 20.1(2)(b) of the Regulation.
