Artist rendering of proposed new Stratford Gardens.
Project overview
BC Housing plans to redevelop existing homes at Stratford Gardens, 6005 Pandora Street. The goal is to build modern, energy efficient apartments that will serve the Burnaby community for years to come.
Phase 1 of redevelopment is anticipated to begin in late 2027 and will include:
- Replacement of 126 rent geared to income, low-income rental apartments with new one-bedroom homes for seniors and adults living with disabilities.
- Improved landscaping including connectivity to the surrounding neighbourhood
- Internal and external amenity space for residents
- All current residents of Stratford Gardens will be supported throughout the redevelopment process.
Future phases may add approximately 350 new purpose-built rental homes in buildings up to six storeys tall. These homes will provide a range of rents (below market to market) to serve a broad mix of individuals and working families in Burnaby. A timeline is not yet set for the development of these potential future phases.
The land will continue to be owned by BC Housing. Learn more about the Provincial Redevelopment Program.
BC Housing will continue to directly manage the homes included in the first phase of construction. A partner will be selected through a fair and transparent process to operate future phases of housing at a later time.
We are committed to keeping you informed as the redevelopment proceeds. We will share updates as they are available.
