Project overview

BC Housing plans to build a new shelter and supportive housing at 925/933 Braidwood Road in Courtenay (formerly known as 925 Braidwood and Ryan Road).

The shelter building will have about 73 beds. It can also add up to 30 more beds during extreme weather.

The supportive housing building will include about 70 small studio homes. These homes are for people from the local area who need support to stay housed.

Both buildings will have shared indoor spaces and outdoor areas. They will also include dining rooms, laundry rooms, and office space for staff. The site will be fenced and will have parking on-site.

Construction work is expected to begin in July 2026 for the purpose-built shelter and permanent supportive housing at 925 + 933 Braidwood Road.
