Project overview
BC Housing, the District of Hope, Fraser Health and Cedar Strong Prevention & Intervention Society are building 56 new homes and a shelter at 1275 7th Avenue.
The 3-storey modular building will include:
- 56 studio homes with support services (supportive housing)
- 15 shelter spaces
- Space to provide an additional 15 spaces during extreme weather (Extreme Weather Response)
- Indoor and outdoor common areas
- Central kitchen and laundry facilities
- Reception area and office space for staff
- Dedicated space for Fraser Health's Integrated Homelessness Action Response Team (IHART) to support residents and shelter guests
- Fenced grounds with on‑site vehicle and bicycle parking
The property is owned by Fraser Health and located next to the Fraser Canyon Hospital.
Supportive housing is subsidized housing with on-site supports. Residents are single adults (19+) who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. This can include seniors and people with disabilities.
All residents apply to live in supportive housing, sign program agreements and pay rent.
Typical supports include:
- 24/7 staffing
- Daily meals
- Life skills and employment training
- Access to health supports
- Connections to community and health support services

Shelters offer free, immediate places to stay for adults (19+) who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. A guest may stay in a shelter space for one night to a few months or longer. Shelter staff work with each guest to help them move toward stable, permanent housing.
Typical supports include:
- Bed and bedding
- Shared washrooms and laundry facilities
- Daily meals
- 24/7 onsite staff support
- Personalized case planning
- Referrals to health care, housing and other community services
Supports and services are for registered shelter guests only.
Extreme Weather Response (EWR) spaces offer short‑term, emergency shelter for adults (19+) during periods of severe winter weather. They provide warm, safe places to stay when extreme winter weather threatens the life and safety of people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in a community.
EWR spaces are not open year‑round. These shelter spaces open only during specific extreme weather conditions. Individual communities choose the shelter location and identify the specific weather conditions that activate an EWR. These can include cold temperatures, freezing rain and snowfall, among other factors.
Typical supports include:
- A warm indoor space
- Light meals or snacks
- Basic amenities such as washrooms
- On‑site staff support during operating hours
BC Housing selected Cedar Strong Prevention & Intervention Society (formerly known as Hope and Area Transition Society) to operate this building. Staff will manage the building and provide services to supportive housing residents and shelter guests.
