Project overview
BC Housing has opened a temporary shelter at 142 Tranquille Road. This shelter is called Pathways. It includes:
- 44 beds
- Indoor and outdoor common areas
- Central kitchen and laundry facilities
- Washroom and shower facilities
- Storage for personal belongings
- Reception area and office space for staff
- Fenced grounds with on-site vehicle and bicycle parking
This project is funded through the Province’s HEART & HEARTH program. Through this program, we can build and offer shelter and temporary housing quickly to people experiencing homelessness.
Shelters offers a free and immediate place to stay for adults (19+) who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. A guest may stay in a shelter space for one night to a few months or longer.
Shelter staff work closely with each guest to support their safety, wellbeing, and transition toward more stable, permanent housing. While the shelter operates year-round, it is intended as short-term accommodation, not permanent housing.
Supports and services at Pathways include:
- 3 staff members on site, 24/7
- 3 meals per day
- Access to cultural programming
- Onsite outreach support services
- Goal planning and life skills training
- Referrals to support groups
- Access to medical services through ASK Wellness Society’s Mobile Health Clinic (twice per week)
- Connection to community services and social assistance
Supports and services are for registered shelter guests only.
BC Housing selected ASK Wellness Society to operate Pathways. Staff would manage the building and provide services to its shelter guests.
We commit to being good neighbours. We will share any updates about Pathways as soon as they are available.
BC Housing and ASK Wellness Society will answer neighbour questions and address any concerns quickly and collaboratively.
