Artist rendering of a four-storey housing building with trees, sidewalk, and cars along a city street.

Building rendering only. Subject to change.

Project overview

BC Housing is planning to build up to 35 new homes at 355 Nicol Street.

The 5-storey residential apartment building will include:

  • Up to 35 studio homes with support services (supportive housing)
    Indoor common areas
  • Central kitchen and laundry facilities
  • Reception area and office space for staff
  • Outdoor areas that reflect Indigenous perspectives (Indigenous plantings, a water feature and communal spaces)

This development is part of two Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements between BC Housing, the Snuneymuxw First Nation (SFN) and the City of Nanaimo.

These homes will be offered first to Snuneymuxw members, then to other First Nation, Métis and Inuit people. If homes are available, BC Housing and SFN will work together to identify opportunities for potential non-Indigenous residents.
