Project overview
BC Housing, Northern Health and Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) are partnering to build 10 new homes at 3177 McGill Crescent.
These homes will be mainly for people who:
- are at risk of or experiencing homelessness
- have complex health needs
- may have developmental disabilities
The single-storey residential building will include:
- 10 studio homes with enhanced health services (complex care housing)
- Indoor and outdoor common areas
- Central kitchen and laundry facilities
- Reception area and office space for staff
- Fenced grounds and on-site parking
Rezoning is not required for this project. The site is zoned RM-3 and has had this zoning in place since the 1980s.
Complex Care Housing (CCH) is subsidized housing with on-site supports and enhanced health services. Residents are single adults (19+) who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness and have complex health needs. This can include seniors and people with disabilities.
Typical support services include:
- 24/7 staffing
- Daily meals
- Life skills and employment training
- Connections to community services
In CCH, specialized professionals also provide enhanced health, cultural and social supports to people with more complex needs.
These support services are voluntary and tailored to residents’ needs and goals. They are available to residents in their own home, for as long as they need.
BC Housing will select an experienced non-profit housing operator to manage the building and provide services to the residents.
Northern Health will provide the enhanced health services.
Community Living BC (CLBC) will provide services to residents with developmental disabilities.
