Project overview
BC Housing is planning to build up to 50 new homes at 530 Carson Avenue . The homes will be on one half of the property, along Davie Street.
The new residential apartment building will include:
- Up to 50 studio homes with support services (supportive housing)
- Indoor and outdoor common areas
- Central kitchen and laundry facilities
- Reception area and office space for staff
BC Housing leased the former Grace Inn Motel to provide emergency housing during the COVID-19 pandemic. We later purchased the site to redevelop it.
Before renovations, all residents moved into temporary housing on site. Residents will live here during construction and move into the new building once it opens.
Supportive housing is subsidized housing with on-site supports. Residents are single adults (19+) who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. This can include seniors and people with disabilities.
All residents apply to live in supportive housing, sign program agreements and pay rent.
Typical supports include:
- 24/7 staffing
- Daily meals
- Independent living skills
- Access to health supports
- Connections to community services and employment training
To learn more, check out our Stories from Supportive Housing playlist on YouTube. These short videos show inside several supportive housing buildings. They also share stories from residents, staff and neighbours.
BC Housing selected Quesnel Shelter & Support Society to operate this housing. Staff will manage the building and provide services to residents.
We commit to being good neighbours. We will share any updates about this project as soon as they are available.
We will share a direct phone number for the building when it opens and address any concerns quickly and collaboratively.
