VICTORIA - People experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Victoria will soon have access to 34 new warm, safe shelter spaces.

The Government of Canada is stepping up with a bold new approach to increase the supply of housing in Canada.

COQUITLAM - People experiencing homelessness in the Tri-Cities area will soon benefit from 20 new temporary shelter spaces opening in Coquitlam in the new year.

VANCOUVER - Seniors, families and individuals in Vancouver have access to 114 new affordable homes and community services with the opening of Powell Horizons, a new mixed-use building in the Downtown Eastside community.

Women and children leaving violence now have access to 56 new long-term, affordable homes and 37 new child care spaces with the opening of YWCA Cindy Beedie Place in Burnaby.

VICTORIA - Workers and families will have more housing options as construction gets underway on 319 new homes across three projects in Saanich and Victoria.

BURNABY - People in Burnaby experiencing or at risk of homelessness will have a path off the street if a new proposal for approximately 50 supportive and complex-care homes is approved.

VICTORIA - More people will find their place in a community they love as B.C. continues rolling out new innovations that are making it easier and faster to build affordable homes, helping contribute to the decline in the asking price for rent in communities throughout B.C.

VICTORIA - People in recovery in Victoria who are experiencing homelessness or leaving supportive housing will soon have a safe place to stay, with the Province, the City and the Victoria Cool Aid Society partnering to deliver recovery-oriented homes downtown.

DELTA - Seniors in Delta have moved into 152 affordable homes with the opening of The Tides, the first part of a planned two-phase redevelopment, offering a vibrant community for seniors to stay connected and thrive.

VICTORIA - More shelter spaces are available this winter than previous seasons, providing people experiencing homelessness in British Columbia with life-saving access to additional warm, safe indoor spaces as colder weather arrives.

SECHELT - Support for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness on the Sunshine Coast is on the way at two properties the Province purchased in Sechelt to build new homes with supports.

FRUITVALE - People in Fruitvale will have access to 31 new, affordable rental homes with the opening of Blizzard Mountain Place.

PENTICTON - People experiencing homelessness in Penticton will soon be better supported and have more places to stay indoors with a new partnership between the city and Province, and a new site to build temporary homes.

WHISTLER - People living and working in Whistler soon will have access to additional rental housing, with construction underway on 125 new homes in the Cheakamus Crossing neighbourhood.

VANCOUVER - Families, seniors, and people living with disabilities in Vancouver have more affordable housing options as Heather Place Building B opens.

VICTORIA - People in Victoria will have access to more than 500 new rental homes, retail spaces and a public plaza, as construction begins on a major redevelopment at the corner of Douglas and Caledonia streets.

SALT SPRING ISLAND - More people in need of affordable and supportive housing on Salt Spring Island will have a new place to call home with the opening of a new building on Drake Road.

SAANICH - Seniors, veterans and adults living with disabilities are moving into 88 new suites with the opening of the new Nigel House in Saanich.

PORT ALBERNI – Indigenous people in the Alberni Valley will have access to 35 new affordable rental homes as the Citaapi Mahtii housing development opens in Port Alberni.

PRINCE RUPERT – Lax Kw'alaams Band members will have more affordable housing options with nearly 60 new homes opening or starting construction.

VANCOUVER - Solving Canada’s housing crisis requires immediate action to build up supply and bring down costs. The Government of Canada is stepping up with unprecedented investments to supercharge housing construction in Canada. To that end, the federal government launched Build Canada Homes a new federal agency that will build affordable housing at scale, including transitional and supportive housing, deeply affordable and community housing, and affordable homes for the Canadian middle class.

KELOWNA - More families, seniors and people living with disabilities now have affordable, energy-efficient homes in Kelowna with the opening of Capstone, adding 122 rental homes to the Apple Valley community.

OSOYOOS - Osoyoos Indian Band members and Osoyoos residents will have access to 43 new affordable rental homes with the opening of mxitp Cedar Lane Apartments.

VICTORIA - Data taken from the latest provincewide homeless counts indicates that homelessness continues to affect people throughout British Columbia, including youth, families, seniors and individuals from all backgrounds.

KAMLOOPS - People experiencing or at risk of homelessness will soon have more housing options with the Province and the City of Kamloops partnering on a new temporary housing development.

LANGLEY - Construction has started on nearly 250 rental homes in the Township of Langley, helping more people find housing options close to work, school and community services.

SURREY - A new proposal in Surrey will bring almost 600 new homes and shelter spaces to the community through three new BC Housing-funded developments helping to support hundreds of people and families in need of affordable and supporting housing.

VANCOUVER - People living in Metro Vancouver will soon have access to more affordable housing with 400 new rental homes opening and breaking ground in Coquitlam, North Vancouver and Vancouver.

VALEMOUNT - Seniors, including those with mobility challenges, are moving into 18 affordable, accessible homes close to services and amenities in Valemount, helping them stay connected to the community they know and love.
