6.Informal Training

You earn one CPD point for every hour of informal training.

Informal training could be attending a conference, webinar or workshop that covers one or more of the competency areas above. Any of the recognized training providers who deliver formal training may also put on informal training.

Informal training could also include a seminar provided by a manufacturer or supplier of goods or services. The seminar’s purpose must then be the proper use or installation of a product, material or service.

Other examples include employer training, research and education development, education curriculum development and training from suppliers and service providers. We explain these in greater depth further on.

In a few cases, the Registrar may consider attendance at association meetings or in-house training programs as informal training credit, but you’ll have to show a direct, clear connection to one or more of the competency areas listed above. You must also show that the association meeting or in-house program has a learning component.
