Building BC: Funding Opportunities Overview

The following funding programs are part of a $19-billion housing investment by the B.C. government. Since 2017, more than 93,600 are open or are underway across the province.

Community Housing Fund (CHF)

  • Funding: Capital & Operational funding
  • Clients Served: Low- and moderate-income households who can live independently without onsite support services.
  • Who Can Apply?
    • Non-profit and Indigenous housing providers, First Nations, faith-based groups, housing co-operatives, and municipalities.
    • Opportunities also exist for private developers by collaborating with a non-profit housing provider.
  • Timeline: We will open the next call for Community Housing Fund proposals later in Fall 2025.

Indigenous Housing Fund (IHF)

  • Funding: Capital & Operational funding
  • Clients Served: Indigenous Households
  • Who Can Apply?
    • Indigenous non-profit housing providers
    • First Nations
    • Indigenous Governments
    • Non-profit housing providers or private housing developers partnering with Indigenous non-profit housing providers, First Nations or Indigenous governments
  • Timeline: This funding program is now closed

Supportive Housing Fund (SHF)

  • Funding: Operational funding
  • Clients Served: People experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. Supports offered
  • Who Can Apply?
    • Interested municipalities
    • Interested operators
  • Timeline: Rolling project proposal intake

Women’s Transitional Housing Fund (WTHF)

  • Funding: Operational funding
  • Clients Served: Women, gender-diverse people (and their children) leaving violence. Supports offered.
  • Who Can Apply? Non-profit housing providers.
  • Timeline: Rolling project proposal intake

How to Apply

  1. For upcoming opportunities register at BC Bid for a BCeID
  2. BC Housing and BC Bid will post live proposals
  3. Consider the need for housing in the community when developing your proposal
  4. Preferred method of submission is through BC Bid
  5. Applicants must use the BC Housing templates as they contain detailed instructions
  6. Submit application through BC Bid (preferred) or by email to BC Housing
